RAHWAY, NJ – Union County Performing Arts Center, the cornerstone of the Rahway Arts District, has taken a giant leap forward in its booking policy to place the historic, 1,300-seat venue on par with New Jersey’s elite theaters with top-level entertainment.

The recently renovated 84-year-old facility has signed a multi-year deal with Live Nation, the world’s leading concert promoter’s House of Blues Entertainment (HOBE) division to produce at least 40 shows a year on its main stage, starting this month.

The series got off to a fantastic start with the sold-out concert by Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors on Sept. 29. Concerts booked at UC PAC by Live Nation this Fall and through the end of 2012 are: comedian JIM BREUER (Oct. 12); PAT BENATAR & NEIL GIRALDO (Nov. 1); VICKI LAWRENCE and Mama: A Two-Woman Show (Nov. 3); an exclusive New Jersey engagement by L.A rockers THE WALLFLOWERS (Nov. 10); country star CLINT BLACK (Nov. 29); and BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY’S Wild & Swingin’ Christmas Party (Dec. 13). Tickets for all announced Live Nation shows are on sale NOW.

“This adds tremendous muscle to both the types of shows we are able to present, as well as the frequency that we can offer them,” says Samson Steinman, UCPAC’s executive director. “Partnering with Live Nation’s House of Blues Entertainment division is a tremendous step toward putting this spectacular, historic theater back on the map as one of New Jersey’s primary go-to destinations for live entertainment. There has been a tremendous investment in recent years to renovate and restore the theater back to its original splendor, and with the commitment to high-level programming that Live Nation will be bringing over the next few years, all that’s left is for the public to come out and experience it.”

Union County Performing Arts Center has played a vital role in the revitalization and cultural renaissance of the community. Part of its magic is experiencing live performances in a vintage 1928 vaudeville and silent movie palace. Lovingly restored to its golden age grandeur, the UCPAC is a monument to an age gone by. Originally known as the Rahway Theater, the building is listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Places and is now operating as a multi-purpose venue for the performing arts.  As the anchor building in the Rahway Central Business District, the UCPAC has significantly contributed to the economic revitalization of that district. Efforts continue to address ongoing maintenance needs, additional restoration work and the modernization of certain aspects of the facility – including the addition of air conditioning in 2009 – to enable it to continue to as a superb performance space.

Live Nation will handle all of the in-house programming at the Union County Performing Arts Center. The building remains available for outside promoters to bring in additional shows to the Mainstage as well as The Loft at UC PAC upstairs.

HOBE will handle all of the in-house programming at the Union County Performing Arts Center. The building remains available for outside promoters to bring in additional shows to the Main stage as well as The Loft at UCPAC upstairs.

Ben Weeden, Chief Operating Officer for House of Blues Entertainment said, “It’s incredibly exciting for us to be a cornerstone partner with the Union County Performing Arts Center in bringing some of the world’s most exciting performers to the community for years to come.”
