Sumberg Says – Season 1, #4

If I know you like I think I do, you’ve probably been wondering: What does the future of UCPAC look like? Are bands, singer/songwriters, comedians, and the like going back on the road like they did before the pandemic? The answer, I’m deeply relieved to say, is a definite YES!

I don’t know if you’ve noticed (have you?), but we’ve changed the way we put shows on sale here at UCPAC. Whereas in the past we’d generally put shows on sale as they’d come to us, these days we have a pretty strict on-sale protocol. New shows get announced in the Tuesday eblast, go on member pre-sale on Wednesday at 10—so become a member now if you want to purchase tickets before the other thousands of patrons on our eblast list!—and then go on-sale to the public at 10am on Friday.

And that works great, except if you want to try to book a bunch of shows at once and call it a “season.” And I am happy to share with you that we’ve got a great season brewing, with four amazing shows already booked for the Fall and many more in the pipeline. I’m sworn to secrecy on what shows have already been booked—Lynn Patmalnee, our Marketing Manager, wouldn’t like it if I muck up her season marketing plan—but I can tell you this: Our season kickoff will be on Friday, September 9th! And it’s going to be a special night. So please SAVE-THE-DATE!!

The season onsale will be a bit different from our regular weekly onsale. We’ll be announcing our Season on Friday, May 27th, tickets will go on sale to members on Wednesday, June 1st, and the season will go on sale to the public on Friday, June 10th. This longer period of time gives members a chance to figure out which shows they want to see, contact friends to see who’s interested in joining them, and not worry that “all the good seats” are going to be sold for a particular show they want to see.

The cost of a basic membership is only $75—a pittance, did you hear that a sushi restaurant in Manhattan is now charging as much as $1000 for one meal?!?—so I hope you’ll consider becoming a member before the season is announced. After all, “why put off until tomorrow what you can, and really should, do today?” And if you want to check out the benefits of other membership levels, click HERE.

Thanks for reading, and for your ongoing support of the UCPAC (whether you’re a member or not). Recently, we had a great weekend here, which included a pristine print of a wonderful classic film (“The Last Picture Show”), a nearly sold-out house for Cedric the Entertainer, and a fun family-oriented show (“Artrageous,” definitely worth checking out the next time we bring them in). And it’s weekends like that that make all of us here at UCPAC so proud of what we do. Thanks for being a part of it.

As always, I’d love to hear from you (good, bad, just not indifferent please 😉): craig@ucpac.org or #732-499-0441 x1509.
