A young, unarmed black teenager, Jamir Woodson, is killed by a white police officer on his way home from school. Lt. Powell, who supervises the officer, is a young black man who quickly worked his way up the ranks and could be the next police chief. However, his denial about racism in the police department after Jamir is killed is causing turmoil in the town and at home with his wife. How he addresses this situation could determine if he’ll be the next police chief. Since Lt. Powell’s wife, Mrs. Perez-Powell, has her own deep dark secrets about racism and colorism, it causes their marriage to take a turn for the worse.
