SUMMARY:MAHONING DRIVE IN ROAD SHOW 2026 - 35 MM DOUBLE FEATURE - THE EXORCIST & BEYOND THE DOOR
DESCRIPTION:Mahoning Drive-In Road Show 2026\n“Original/Rip-Off” 35mm Double Feature\nThe Exorcist & Beyond the Door\nSaturday\, February 28\nFood Truck Arrives: 6 PM\nDoors: 6 PM – Bar and Vendors Open\nOrgan Concert on our Biggest Little Wurlitzer: 6:30 PM\nFirst Feature – “The Exorcist”: 7:00 PM – 9:15 PM\nIntermission 9:15 PM – 9:45 PM\nSecond Feature – “Beyond the Door”: 9:45 PM – 11:45 PM\nTickets: $22 (All In Pricing)\n \nThe Mahoning Drive-In Road Show returns on Saturday\, February 28 with a 1970s 35mm “Original/Rip-Off” Drive-In double feature of “The Exorcist” (1973) and “Beyond the Door” (1974)! \nA Message from Mark from Mahoning: \nJoin Virgil and me from Pennsylvania’s 35mm movie mecca The Mahoning Drive-In Theater for an indoor night at the Drive-In\, complete with vintage snack bar ads\, trailers\, and an intermission reel between the films! We will introduce the show\, talk about the history of Drive-In theaters\, the Mahoning Drive-In\, and give a little insight into the two shockers about to be unspooled; then it’s 35mm madness unleashed upon the giant screen at UCPAC’s Main Stage! \nFirst up is one of the greatest horror films of all time\, William Friedkin’s “The Exorcist” (1973)\, starring Ellen Burstyn as the mother of a young girl (Linda Blair) who finds herself peskily possessed by a debauched demon\, who calls upon the clergy to perform the titular treatment to free the terrifyingly transformed teen! Jason Miller and Max Von Sydow star as the priests who do battle with the foul-mouthed possessor\, in a film that caused original audiences to be sick and flee theaters\, such was the shock of its onscreen intensity. Followed by sequels\, prequels\, and endless imitations\, but never surpassed in its ability to unsettle. Presented here in the 2000 “Version You’ve Never Seen” re-release\, with additional footage not seen until then. \nWe follow that classic with one of the first films to rip it off\, the Italian shocker “Beyond the Door” (1974). “Beyond this door\, the most terrifying event in the history of mankind is about to occur!” SEE the film that Warner Brothers sued for copyright infringement! This time it’s a pregnant woman (Juliet Mills) who’s filled to the brim with an unwanted demon\, and it’s up to her husband and a mysterious stranger (Richard Johnson\, “The Haunting”) to eradicate the blaspheming boogeyman! An over-the-top knock-off that recreates the “greatest hits” of the original while creating its own bonkers memorable moments that must be seen to be believed! \nJoin us in reliving the glory days of the Drive-In\, when the films were wild\, the popcorn was hot\, and double features were the order of the night! \n \n \nComing with a group of 10 or more? DESCRIPTION:La Bamba in 35mm\nThursday\, September 18\nDoors: 6 PMShow: 7 PM\nTickets: $17 in advance/ $22 day of show (All In Pricing)\n\nUCPAC marks Hispanic Heritage Month with a screening of “La Bamba” in 35mm. \nStarring Lou Diamond Phillips as Richie Valens\, “La Bamba” tells the story of the brief life of the young American Chicano star who influenced Latino rockers like Carlos Santana and Los Lobos. Valens is best known for his rock n’ roll adaption of the classic Mexican folk song “La Bomba.” \nThe film’s cast includes Esai Morales\, Rosanna DeSoto\, Elizabeth Peña\, Danielle von Zerneck\, and Joe Pantoliano. Musicians of note seen in “La Bamba” include Brian Setzer as Eddie Cochran\, Marshall Crenshaw as Buddy Holly\, and Los Lobos\, who performed all of Valens’ songs in the movie at Valens’ family’s request. Other cameos in the film include Connie Valenzuela\, Richie Valens’ mother. \nAt just 17 years old\, Valens sadly passed away in a 1959 plane crash that also took the lives of Buddy Holly\, the Big Bopper\, and the pilot\, Roger Peterson. The incident was the inspiration for singer/songwriter Don McClean’s 70s classic “American Pie” and became known as “the day the music died\,” but the songs Valens left behind will live forever. \nJoin us on UCPAC’s Main Stage after “La Bamba” for a dance party celebrating Valens’ music and other Latin rock and pop hits by the artists he inspired! \nThis screening of “La Bamba” (Rated PG-13) is part of the I. It is the first installment in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and stars Heather Langenkamp\, John Saxon\, Ronee Blakley\, Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger\, and Johnny Depp in his film debut. The film’s plot concerns a group of teenagers who are targeted by Krueger\, an undead child killer who can murder people through their dreams\, as retribution against their parents who burned him alive. \nIn 2010\, the Independent Film & Television Alliance selected the film as one of the 30 most significant independent films of the past 30 years. It ranked at number 17 on Bravo’s The 100 Scariest Movie Moments (2004)—a five-hour program that selected cinema’s scariest moments. In 2008\, Empire ranked A Nightmare on Elm Street 162nd on their list of the 500 greatest movies of all time.[94] It also was selected by The New York Times as one of the best 1000 movies ever made.— Wikipedia \nThe film will be preceded by an organ concert of spooky tunes played on our “Biggest Little Wurlitzer” one half hour before the movie begins.
