This series is a partnership between WBGO\, UCPAC\, and Smooth Jazz NJ. \nEnjoy an evening of smooth jazz\, beginning in the WBGO Piano Lounge. Come early to enjoy cocktails and live piano music from Tomoko Ohno on the Fazioli piano before the performance – doors open one hour before showtime. \nABOUT THE ARTISTS:\nJeff Lorber\nJeff Lorber is an American keyboardist\, composer\, and record producer who started out\, like most successful musicians do\, as a fan. Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock were two of his earliest inspirations. To figure out how to play like his heroes\, he had to go back and study the history of jazz piano where he discovered Wynton Kelly\, Thelonious Monk\, McCoy Tyner\, Red Garland\, Bill Evans\, Keith Jarrett\, and many more. Combine that with his love of Funk and R&B\, and you get one of the most storied careers in modern jazz history. \nLorber began his recording career in 1977 with The Jeff Lorber Fusion self-titled debut. The ensemble quickly gained traction and became one of the most popular touring acts on the scene. In 1982\, Lorber made his solo debut with It’s A Fact. In 1985 he scored his first Grammy nomination with the hit “Pacific Coast Highway” from the album Step By Step. He has continued to write and record over the last 40 plus years releasing a string of successful projects including West Side Stories (1994)\, State of Grace (1996) Midnight (1998)\, Kickin’ It (2001)\, Philly Style (2003)\, Flipside (2005)\, He Had A Hat (2007\, Grammy nominated)\, Now Is The Time (2010\, Grammy nominated)\, Galaxy (2012\, Grammy nominated) Hacienda (2013 Grammy nominated)\, and Prototype (2017). \nIn 2018\, he received a Grammy for his album Prototype in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category. \nRead more at Lorber.com \nAlexander Zonjic\nIn 2020\, eleven years after releasing Doin’ the D\, an album paying dynamic homage to the music and magic of Detroit\, Alexander Zonjic got back in the throwback R&B groove with the release of another infectious\, high-spirited valentine to his beloved adopted hometown. Written and produced for the veteran\, multiple award winning flutist by Pieces of a Dream keyboardist James Lloyd\, “”Motor City Sway” – the infectious lead single from Playing It Forward\, Zonjic’s first collection on his own Hi-Falutin Music label – quickly hit the Billboard Smooth Jazz Songs chart and was one of the most added singles on the Billboard BDS chart two weeks in a row. Ten of the eleven tracks on Playing It Forward were produced by keyboardist Jeff Lorber\, who helmed the majority of sessions for Zonjic’s previous albums Reach for the Sky (2001)\, Seldom Blues (2004) and Doin’ The D. \nA native of Windsor\, Ontario (immediately across the Detroit River)\, Zonjic is a 15-time Detroit Music Awards winner with deep and multi-faceted ties to and influence on the city. The band\, one of the top Eagles tribute bands in the country\, will perform the “Hotel California” album in its entirety\, plus Eagles’ greatest hits from the 70s\, 80s and beyond\, and members’ solo hits as well. Kick off your summer with songs like “Life in the Fast Lane\,” “The Last Resort\,” “Take it Easy\,” “Life’s Been Good\,” and of course\, “Boys of Summer!” \nWhat makes this tribute band unique from other bands is that each member performs and sings the song just as the original member does. That means that their ” Joe Walsh” sings the Joe Walsh songs\, their “Glenn Frey” sings the Glenn Frey songs and their “Don Henley” replicates all of his incredible vocals. However\, this is no simple copy band or impersonator act but rather a group of excellent musicians who expertly and authentically re-create the songs\, the music\, the vocals and the magical aura of one of America’s greatest rock bands. \nJoe Vadala is the founder of BOTE\, producer and singer-songwriter and has performed nationally with artists such as Buzzy Linhart\, La Bamba and the Hubcaps\, Joey and the Works\, Poetic Justice and more. Vadala also has performed as part of the premier house bands at the world-renowned Stone Pony in Asbury Park\, NJ. Joe founded this group in 2012 and told Philadelphia Row Home Magazine that he assembled “a group of musicians he is proud\, and fortunate\, to be among. And over the years\, the fans seem to agree.” \nJoe Vadala will be joined by fellow respected musicians\, John Bushnell (rhythm\, lead and slide guitars\, vocals)\, Jerry Steele (guitar\, pedal steel\, vocals)\, Dan “Dano” Miller (bass\,vocals)\, Dave “Squiggy” Biglin (keyboard\, vocals)\, and Anthony Krizan (drums\, lead vocals). \nSee Best of the Eagles in action! \n \nComing with a group of 10 or more? Learn more about Popcorn & Pajamas\n“Families can be hard but they are so worth fighting for.” \nFrom the humans that brought you Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse & The Lego Movie\, The Mitchells vs. the Machines tells the chaotically fun tale of “a quirky\, dysfunctional family’s road trip suddenly upended when they find themselves in the middle of the robot apocalypse and become humanity’s unlikeliest last hope.” – IMDB \nStarring the voices of Danny McBride\, Abbi Jacobson\, Maya Rudolph\, Mike Rianda\, Eric André\, and Olivia Colman\, with Fred Armisen\, Beck Bennett\, John Legend\, Chrissy Teigen\, Charlyne Yi\, Blake Griffin\, Conan O’Brien\, and Doug the Pug in supporting roles. \n“Eye-catching and energetic\, The Mitchells vs. the Machines delivers a funny\, feel-good story that the whole family can enjoy\,” The Mitchells vs the Machines earned a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. \nMatt Fowler gave the film an 8 out of 10\, stating that “The Mitchells vs. The Machines is a ridiculous\, riotous\, and relevant adventure fill with great humor and winning sentiment. It’s fast-moving and gorgeous to behold\, filled with quirks\, quips\, and a lovably goblin-like pug (“voiced” by IG-famous Doug the Pug). It’s a good time for both younglings and elders\, delivering an intelligently goofy rush of new animation and old emotion.” – IGN \nWatch the Trailer\n \n \n \n \n Check out the City of Rahway’s Dinner & Show Deals! \nSee all of UCPAC’s Upcoming Events
