SUMMARY:LA BAMBA IN 35MM WITH LATIN ROCK/POP DANCE PARTY
DESCRIPTION:La Bamba in 35mm\nThursday\, September 18\nDoors: 6 PMShow: 7 PM\nTickets: $17 in advance/ $22 day of show (All In Pricing)\n\nUCPAC marks Hispanic Heritage Month with a screening of “La Bamba” in 35mm. \nStarring Lou Diamond Phillips as Richie Valens\, “La Bamba” tells the story of the brief life of the young American Chicano star who influenced Latino rockers like Carlos Santana and Los Lobos. Valens is best known for his rock n’ roll adaption of the classic Mexican folk song “La Bomba.” \nThe film’s cast includes Esai Morales\, Rosanna DeSoto\, Elizabeth Peña\, Danielle von Zerneck\, and Joe Pantoliano. Musicians of note seen in “La Bamba” include Brian Setzer as Eddie Cochran\, Marshall Crenshaw as Buddy Holly\, and Los Lobos\, who performed all of Valens’ songs in the movie at Valens’ family’s request. Other cameos in the film include Connie Valenzuela\, Richie Valens’ mother. \nAt just 17 years old\, Valens sadly passed away in a 1959 plane crash that also took the lives of Buddy Holly\, the Big Bopper\, and the pilot\, Roger Peterson. The incident was the inspiration for singer/songwriter Don McClean’s 70s classic “American Pie” and became known as “the day the music died\,” but the songs Valens left behind will live forever. \nJoin us on UCPAC’s Main Stage after “La Bamba” for a dance party celebrating Valens’ music and other Latin rock and pop hits by the artists he inspired! \nThis screening of “La Bamba” (Rated PG-13) is part of the I. Joseph Hyatt Classic Film Series. Get your tickets today! \n \n \n \n \n Check out the City of Rahway’s Dinner & Show Deals! \nSee all of UCPAC’s Upcoming Events

SUMMARY:SOLD OUT! DISNEY'S ENCANTO - A SENSORY FRIENDLY MOVIE EXPERIENCE
DESCRIPTION:Disney’s Encanto – A Sensory Friendly Movie Experience at UCPAC’s Hamilton Stage\nFunded by the Union County Board of County Commissioners\nFriday\, September 26\nTickets: $5 (All-In Pricing)\nDoors: 6 PM\nFilm: 7 PM\nTHIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT\n \nUCPAC’s Sensory Friendly Theatre movie screening of Disney’s “Encanto” is a digital presentation specially adapted for children and adults with autism and other sensory sensitivities. Learn more about Sensory Friendly Theatre events.\n“The miracle is not some magic that you’ve got – the miracle is you.” Bring the whole family to experience the magic of Disney’s “Encanto!” \nDisney’s “Encanto” follows a multigenerational Colombian family\, the Madrigals\, led by a matriarch whose children and grandchildren—except for Mirabel Madrigal—receive magical gifts from a miracle\, which they use to help the people in their rural community\, called the Encanto. When Mirabel learns that the family is losing their magic\, she sets out to find out why and save her family and house. Starring the voices of Stephanie Beatriz\, María Cecilia Botero\, John Leguizamo\, Mauro Castillo [es]\, Jessica Darrow\, Angie Cepeda\, Carolina Gaitán\, Diane Guerrero\, and Wilmer Valderrama\, with Rhenzy Feliz\, Ravi Cabot-Conyers\, Adassa\, and Maluma in additional roles. \n“‘Encanto’ has been visualized with a vivacious naturalistic glow (swirling flower petals\, eye-candy pastels) that\, at moments\, is nearly psychedelic.” –Variety \nBillboard’s Leila Cobo stated “Colombia is “finally seen and not just heard” via Encanto. Cobo praised the film for not homogenizing all of the Latin American countries in the manner U.S. media has generally been\, instead accurately depicting the culture unique to Colombia: “from accents to outfits to minute details like the hand-painted tableware\, the embroidered dresses\, the food\, the many colors of our skin\, even the animals – including the ubiquitous toucan and the yellow butterflies that are synonymous with García Márquez.” \nWatch the Trailer\n \nWhat to expect at a Sensory Friendly Theatre Movie Experience: \n\nMovie will run its full length without intermission.\nSeating is general admission; a limited number of tickets will be sold to maintain a comfortably-sized audience.\nLights will remain on at 25% brightness inside the theater auditorium during the entire performance.\nSound volume will be lowered and remain constant to prevent abrupt\, jarring sounds.\n\n \n \n \n \n Check out the City of Rahway’s Dinner & Show Deals! \nSee all of UCPAC’s Upcoming Events
