SUMMARY:MADAME SELIKA 1878: SONGBIRD IN THE WHITE HOUSE - FREE BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENT
DESCRIPTION:Madame Selika 1878: Songbird in the White House\nThursday\, February 19\nAt UCPAC’s Hamilton Stage\nDoors: 6:30 PM\nOpen House: 7 PM\nFree (Registration Required)\n \nThe Union County Board of County Commissioners\, through the Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs\, is pleased to celebrate Black History Month and the 250th Anniversary of the Founding of the United States with a free performance titled\, “Madame Selika 1878: Songbird in the White House.” \nThe performance\, part of Union County’s American Revolution 250th Anniversary and Black History Month celebrations\, highlights the life of soprano singer Marie Selika Williams through a re-creation of her historic 1878 concert at the White House. At the recommendation of Frederick Douglass\, Madame Selika performed a recital in the Green Room of the White House for President and Mrs. Rutherford B. Hayes and their guests during a period in time when racism was still prevalent. Madame Selika\, along with her husband Samson Williams\, were the first free people of color to perform there. \nTerrance McKnight\, the award-winning journalist\, author and weekday evening host for radio station WQXR\, conceived\, directs and explores the historic\, political and social ramifications of that evening with performances by soprano Candice Hoyes\, tenor Chauncey Packer and pianist Kyle Walker. \nAdmission to “Madame Selika 1878: Songbird in the White House” is free\, but pre-registration is required. SUMMARY:LEZ ZEPPELIN: THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME - 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
DESCRIPTION:Lez Zeppelin: The Song Remains The Same\n50th Anniversary Celebration\nSaturday\, February 21\nDoors: 7 PM\nShow: 8 PM\nTickets: $45-$53 (All In Pricing)\n \nIn honor of the 50th anniversary of the release of “The Song Remains the Same\,” internationally acclaimed Lez Zeppelin — the all-female quartet known for delivering the most powerful and authentic Led Zeppelin experience and the only band personally endorsed by Jimmy Page himself — returns to UCPAC’s Main Stage with a special concert celebrating the iconic 1976 film and its legendary soundtrack! \nAccompanied by a multimedia presentation inspired by the original movie\, Lez Zeppelin will perform “The Song Remains the Same” in its entirety\, with jaw-dropping renditions of classics like “No Quarter\,” “Dazed and Confused\,” “Since I’ve Been Loving You\,” and the transcendent “Stairway to Heaven.” \nHarnessing the energy\, virtuosity\, and grandeur of Led Zeppelin’s storied 1973 performances at Madison Square Garden\, this tribute is more than a concert — it’s a resurrection of rock history\, reimagined and re-ignited for a new generation! \nAbout Lez Zeppelin: \nSwagger. Intensity. Virtuosity. All Girls. All Zeppelin. \nLez Zeppelin is a phenomenon. Since their formation in 2004\, the group has stunned audiences all over the world with the musicianship\, passion and gender-bending audacity they bring to the music of Led Zeppelin. Unlike the typical “tribute band” Lez Zeppelin does not seek to imitate. Rather\, they are a she-incarnation of the original. \nJimmy Page described it best after attending a Lez Zeppelin show in London: “They played the Led Zeppelin music with an extraordinary sensuality and an energy and passion that highlighted their superb musicianship.” \nDon’t miss this incredible show! \n \nExperience the authenticity and power of Lez Zeppelin live!\n \nComing with a group of 10 or more? SUMMARY:MAHONING DRIVE IN ROAD SHOW 2026 - 35 MM DOUBLE FEATURE - THE EXORCIST & BEYOND THE DOOR
DESCRIPTION:Mahoning Drive-In Road Show 2026\n“Original/Rip-Off” 35mm Double Feature\nThe Exorcist & Beyond the Door\nSaturday\, February 28\nFood Truck Arrives: 6 PM\nDoors: 6 PM – Bar and Vendors Open\nOrgan Concert on our Biggest Little Wurlitzer: 6:30 PM\nFirst Feature – “The Exorcist”: 7:00 PM – 9:15 PM\nIntermission 9:15 PM – 9:45 PM\nSecond Feature – “Beyond the Door”: 9:45 PM – 11:45 PM\nTickets: $22 (All In Pricing)\n \nThe Mahoning Drive-In Road Show returns on Saturday\, February 28 with a 1970s 35mm “Original/Rip-Off” Drive-In double feature of “The Exorcist” (1973) and “Beyond the Door” (1974)! \nA Message from Mark from Mahoning: \nJoin Virgil and me from Pennsylvania’s 35mm movie mecca The Mahoning Drive-In Theater for an indoor night at the Drive-In\, complete with vintage snack bar ads\, trailers\, and an intermission reel between the films! We will introduce the show\, talk about the history of Drive-In theaters\, the Mahoning Drive-In\, and give a little insight into the two shockers about to be unspooled; then it’s 35mm madness unleashed upon the giant screen at UCPAC’s Main Stage! \nFirst up is one of the greatest horror films of all time\, William Friedkin’s “The Exorcist” (1973)\, starring Ellen Burstyn as the mother of a young girl (Linda Blair) who finds herself peskily possessed by a debauched demon\, who calls upon the clergy to perform the titular treatment to free the terrifyingly transformed teen! Jason Miller and Max Von Sydow star as the priests who do battle with the foul-mouthed possessor\, in a film that caused original audiences to be sick and flee theaters\, such was the shock of its onscreen intensity. Followed by sequels\, prequels\, and endless imitations\, but never surpassed in its ability to unsettle. Presented here in the 2000 “Version You’ve Never Seen” re-release\, with additional footage not seen until then. \nWe follow that classic with one of the first films to rip it off\, the Italian shocker “Beyond the Door” (1974). “Beyond this door\, the most terrifying event in the history of mankind is about to occur!” SEE the film that Warner Brothers sued for copyright infringement! This time it’s a pregnant woman (Juliet Mills) who’s filled to the brim with an unwanted demon\, and it’s up to her husband and a mysterious stranger (Richard Johnson\, “The Haunting”) to eradicate the blaspheming boogeyman! An over-the-top knock-off that recreates the “greatest hits” of the original while creating its own bonkers memorable moments that must be seen to be believed! \nJoin us in reliving the glory days of the Drive-In\, when the films were wild\, the popcorn was hot\, and double features were the order of the night! \n \n \nComing with a group of 10 or more?
