Embark on a path through Black music as a powerful force in the struggle for freedom, identity, and creative expression at ATG and UCPAC’s Juneteenth celebration. Juneteenth – The Soundtrack of Freedom will showcase a vibrant community choir, talented soloists, including singer Sandra Ward, powerful poetry, dynamic tap dancer Jeffry Foote, and, returning by popular demand, the electrifying Junior Mack Band.
Production Director and host, Diane L. Parker, says, “The Soundtrack of Freedom will illuminate how the arts have influenced the path of freedom, identity and self-expression within the Black community. Through live performances, narration, spoken word and dance, experience how music has served as both a refuge and resistance. Celebrate the enduring spirit of freedom, and let the music and words move you.”
