“Dreams do come true in New Orleans.” – Tiana
Travel back in time to 1920s New Orleans for this modern-day classic! Disney’s “The Princess & The Frog” tells the story of Tiana, a hardworking young woman with big dreams of opening her own restaurant.
However, her life takes an unexpected turn when she crosses paths with Prince Naveen, who has been transformed into a frog. A magical mishap turns Tiana into a frog as well, sending the mismatched duo deep into the Louisiana bayou to try to break the spell.
Featuring the voices and musical talents of many New Orleans celebrities, including Randy Newman, Dr. John, Terence Blanchard, John Goodman, and Emeril Lagasse, the film captures the magical spirit of one of America’s most fascinating cities.
“The Princess & The Frog” is significant for introducing Disney’s first African-American princess, marking an important milestone in representation in mainstream animation. It also stands as one of the last films to use traditional hand-drawn animation, making it both a cultural landmark and a celebration of Disney’s classic storytelling roots.
